To me, being a trustee means being part of something bigger than myself and knowing we’re doing all we can to help our communities well-being for the future

People say our health is the most valuable thing we have. For me, everything starts with good mental health. I’m in the fortunate position that I have useful skills to offer, and some time to volunteer, which is an important part of my life and supports my mental well-being.

"Being a Trustee for Mid & North Powys Mind means I’m helping my community in a way that benefits me too".

We have a really supportive Trustee Board and a great staff team who provide us with all the tools to make good decisions and understand the impact of our work. We get a huge sense of achievement knowing we've all played our part in making mental health support available across our very rural part of Wales.

In my day job I run a small arts in health organisation, Music Anywhere CIC, that takes live music to people who might be isolated or lonely. We work very closely across the voluntary and charity sector in Powys and I’m always proud to say I’m a volunteer with Mind and promote the opportunities we offer. Mid & North Powys Mind's reputation is wonderful and it’s a privilege to play a small part in getting the message out that we’re here for people.

We all have something to offer

Having had friends and family affected by mental illness - long and short term - I believe it’s more important than ever that everyone knows they can be involved in ensuring the future of accessible services that are there when we need them. We all have something to offer, from writing a letter of support to volunteering at events or joining as a Trustee. It’s not as daunting as it sounds and there’s so much help to develop and be a vital part of making sure that we’re there for people, just like you and me, in the future.

Being a Trustee for Mid & North Powys Mind means being part of something bigger than myself, having great relationships with like minded people and knowing we’re doing all we can to help our communities well-being for the future.
