Our promise to those supporting mental health

This page explains how we promise to treat everyone who supports Mind – with fairness, kindness, and respect.

We are Mind. We only exist because of the amazing support of people like you. We want you to know that we really value your support, whether you've:

  • donated to charity
  • fundraised on our behalf
  • supported our campaigns
  • bought items in our shops
  • been a member
  • left us a gift in your will

We are committed to treating you with respect and openness, so this is our promise to you.

Our communications with you about Mind’s mental health support work

  • We hope you'll want to hear more about our work. We'll always be clear about how we'll communicate with you.
  • If you ask us not to contact you, or not to contact you in a certain way, we’ll respect your wishes and act accordingly.
  • You can change your mind about what you receive from us at any time.

How we keep our supporters safe and treat everyone fairly

Fundraising is very important to us, and we’re proud of what it helps us do. We always check how we fundraise to make sure it is fair, kind, and respectful.

We're committed to ensuring the highest quality of experience for our supporters. Mind helps its staff, volunteers, and partners learn how to spot when someone needs extra help. We make sure they treat everyone kindly and fairly.

Mind makes sure everyone is treated fairly and with respect. We never want anyone to be hurt or taken advantage of when they talk to or support us.

Mind’s approach to supporters in vulnerable circumstances is informed by:

If you’re under 16 and want to help Mind, please ask your parent or guardian to email us at [email protected]. We need their permission in writing before you can fundraise, volunteer, or join in with any Mind activities.

We make sure all staff are trained in and follow our safeguarding policy and procedures.

About your donation or the money you've raised

We promise to use your donation to charity carefully to help people with mental health problems get the support and respect they deserve.

We’ll keep our admin costs low, so most of your donation goes straight to our important work.
If you have questions about how we use your donation, we’ll be happy to answer. You can also see clear and simple financial information.

Sometimes, we might say no to a donation if we think it could harm our work or what people think of us. If that happens, we’ll explain why.

Our use of your personal details

We use carefully selected suppliers to help us deliver our communications and services. We will keep any personal information safe, and only use your details to contact you in the ways you've agreed to.

We will always respect your right to privacy and adhere to laws around the use of data.

We may share information with trusted companies who help us with processing tasks. We make sure they follow strict rules and are checked regularly. We will make sure their use of the data is in line with our own data protection policies. Your data will not be kept or used by them for any other purposes.

Suppliers we work with to help us support mental health

Sometimes we ask other companies to help us contact you because our team is small. They might help send letters, emails, or deliver things we use for fundraising.

We will only work with professional organisations that meet our high standards.

We'll train, monitor and regulate our external suppliers to meet our standards. We will act quickly if they do not meet the high standards we set.

Everyone who works with us and talks to our supporters gets mental health awareness training.

Our accountability to you

  • You can contact us with feedback or to make a complaint if you are unhappy with anything we have done.

Our communications with you

We hope you'll want to hear more about our work. We'll always be clear about how we'll communicate with you.

If you tell us you'd rather not be contacted, or you'd rather we didn't contact you in a certain way, we'll act on your wishes.

You can change your mind about what you receive from us at any time.

Thank you.
