We're Mind, the mental health charity

Each year, one in four of us will experience a mental health problem.

What we watch on TV can have a huge impact on how we see ourselves and others. Mental health storylines in soaps and dramas, such as Aidan's suicide on Coronation Street, or Alfie's experience of schizoaffective disorder in Hollyoaks, can also encourage people to seek help for themselves, speak out and support each other.

In fact our research shows that one in three people feel less alone following coverage of mental health in the media. That's why we work with researchers, scriptwriters and producers to help portray mental health problems in the media realistically and sensitively.

As well as our work with media, we give information and support to anyone experiencing a mental health problem.
