Societe Generale's midnight marathon for Mind
On the evening of Friday 30 September over 100 UK-based staff from Societe Generale will take to London’s streets to walk 26.2 miles in their flagship event, the Midnight Hike, to raise funds for Mind. The walking marathon will follow an iconic route highlighting creative therapies as a form of treatment for mental health problems.
The Bank aims to raise £65,000 through the Midnight Hike to support Mind’s ‘Advice to Action’ campaign, helping people with mental health problems to get back on track.
Joining the 100-strong staff on the walk will be Mind’s chief executive Paul Farmer and Philippe Robeyns, Societe Generale’s Chief Operating Officer for the UK. Scott Ashley, personal trainer and Good Morning Britain fitness expert will also take part in the walk and will be encouraging participants with a warm up before the last leg.
Commenting on the event, Paul Farmer, CEO, Mind said:
"Societe Generale’s support, and the Midnight Hike, will mean that Mind can continue providing vital services, like our Infoline, so people can make their own choices and access the treatment and support that is right for them. This partnership is helping us make sure no one has to face a mental health problem alone."
Ian Fisher, Societe Generale Group Chief Country Head for the UK, said:
"With a commitment to building stronger communities, Corporate and Social Responsibility is very much embedded in Societe Generale’s culture. The Midnight Hike is a truly special event for our staff to show their team spirit whilst raising money and supporting the partnership we have with Mind."
