Mind's chief executive Paul Farmer to receive CBE
We are delighted to announce that Mind’s Chief Executive Paul Farmer has been recognised in the Queen’s New Year Honours list.
Mind’s Chair Ryan Campbell said: “We are incredibly proud of Paul receiving a CBE for his services to mental health. Paul has worked tirelessly during his decade as Chief Executive of Mind and in previous roles at Rethink Mental Illness and Samaritans to campaign for better services and support for people with mental health problems.
"Under his leadership Mind has helped to bring mental health to public attention and on the political agenda like never before. Paul was instrumental in launching this country’s biggest anti stigma campaign Time to Change and as a result we have started to see public attitudes improve and people’s experience of discrimination decline.
"He is committed to achieving real change so that people with mental health problems always get the respect and support that they deserve. I know I speak for everyone at Mind in offering my congratulations to him on this thoroughly deserved honour.”
Paul Farmer has been Chief Executive of Mind, the leading mental health charity working in England and Wales since May 2006.
He is Chair of the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations (ACEVO), the leading voice of the UK’s charity and social enterprise sector. Paul is also a trustee at Lloyds Bank Foundation which invests in charities supporting people to break out of disadvantage at critical points in their lives.
Paul is Chair of the NHS England Mental Health Taskforce- bringing together health and care leaders and experts in the field, including people using services, to lead a programme of work to create a mental health Five Year Forward View for the NHS in England.
