Georgia's story

I’ve had suicidal thoughts for years and years, up until recently, and there are more suicide attempts in my past than I can count. I’ve been described as like a volcano: I can take and take stress until I reach a tipping point, and in the past that was when the suicidal feelings got worse, because at that point I felt so overwhelmed.

But I went from my absolute worst to my absolute best in the space of a year and a half, because I finally found what was missing in my life. I come from a background of significant issues with my family, and so I’d never really had that support in my life.

I can take and take stress until I reach a tipping point, and in the past that was when the suicidal feelings got worse, because at that point I felt so overwhelmed.

Then I met a friend who helped me to accept myself, and that helped me realise that I really was worth something

The message I want to give people is that if you fight long enough and try hard enough, you can come through these feelings. Connecting with people is such a big thing. Even if you don’t think your life is worth anything, there will be someone, somewhere who will miss you, so give them the chance to help you. You have to reach out, because someone will be lost without you.
