Grace Victory announced as Mind Ambassador

Thursday, 03 February 2022 Mind

Content creator, author and mental health advocate, Grace Victory, has been announced as the latest Ambassador for Mind, the mental health charity.

Often known as ‘the Internet’s Big Sister’, Grace shares her thoughts on fashion trends, beauty products and, more recently, insight into her experience of motherhood to her 250k social media followers. Grace has also been open about her own experiences of mental health problems online for many years, most recently sharing her experience of PTSD as a result of her traumatic coma after testing positive for Covid-19.

Grace is all too aware of the effect of the pandemic on so many people’s mental health and hopes that, by announcing her new role for Mind on Time to Talk Day, she is encouraging anyone experiencing a mental health problem to start a conversation about it. This comes as it is revealed today that one in four adults surveyed (25 per cent) who have experienced a worsening of their mental health for the first time during the pandemic, have yet to have a first conversation about it, equivalent to around one million people.

Grace says:

“Two years into the pandemic, talking about our mental health has never been more important. I know how hard it can be to be honest about how we feel, especially having recently experienced new challenges in my own mental health journey. But I also know how cathartic it can be to talk – whether that’s to loved ones, your network, a support service or charity.

“I’m absolutely thrilled and honoured to become a Mind Ambassador. This is just the start of my journey with Mind and I hope to work with them to not only raise awareness about mental health, but encourage noticeable action too. There have been times in my life where I’ve been at rock bottom and I’ve turned to Mind to get me through that, so I’m incredibly excited for what’s to come.”

Paul Farmer, Chief Executive of Mind, says:

“We are delighted to have Grace join us as our latest Ambassador. We know that the internet and social media can be a lifeline for so many people and Grace plays a huge role in that by candidly sharing her experiences of mental health, thereby encouraging others to speak out and seek the help they may need.

“We all have mental health and, by talking about it, we can support ourselves and others. The last two years have had a huge impact on us all and we know that talking can help us feel less alone, more able to cope and encouraged to seek support if we need to. However you do it, reach out and start a conversation about mental health this Time to Talk Day."
