Mind in West Essex – trainee educational mental health practitioners

This is a training role within the green paper for transforming children and young people’s mental health programme. The postholders will work within Mind in West Essex delivering low intensity interventions, while undertaking training for this role.

The training will equip the postholders to offer a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self-management interventions to children and young people with mild to moderate anxiety and depression and/or behavioural difficulties.

What you'll do

In this role you'll:

  • Attend all taught and self-study days required by the education provider
  • Work in the service for the remaining days of the week
  • Work with children, young people and parents with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary

About you

We're looking for someone with:

  • Proof of Level 5 study, for example a degree, DipHE, HND, level 5 award, certificate or diploma or an NVQ
  • Experience working with young people, ideally within an educational setting
  • Understanding of the issues faced by children and young people experiencing mental health problems
  • Ability to use a range of office-based software packages and IT systems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Desire to achieve positive outcomes
  • Valid UK driving licence and/or access to transport to enable travel between educational settings on a daily basis
  • Evidence of the ability to work calmly and remain resilient whilst under pressure
