for better mental health

Free online CBT during coronavirus (SilverCloud)

What is SilverCloud?

SilverCloud is an online self-help platform, which you can use by yourself. It's designed to help you learn skills to manage common problems, like stress and anxiety. The modules are based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) principles.

Usually you can only access it through an organisation that has paid for the service, like an NHS Trust or university. But in response to the coronavirus pandemic SilverCloud has made four modules free to use for anyone who visits the Mind website

The four free modules are on:

  • COVID-19 (support for the difficult emotions and situations you may face during the pandemic)
  • sleep
  • stress
  • resilience.

About CBT and online self-help tools

Some people find CBT techniques helpful, but they don’t work for everyone. Similarly, online and self-guided learning may feel right for some people but not others. It might be something you could try while you’re on an NHS waiting list for talking therapy. Or alongside other kinds of self-care and support services.

If you’re struggling to cope feel like you need more help, the best place to start is still by talking to your GP. Appointments should be available remotely during the coronavirus pandemic.
