Why fundraise for Mind?
Now more than ever, people with mental health problems need our support. In the UK, 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem this year. We need your help so we can be there - on the other end of the phone, in local communities and campaigning hard.
By fundraising through this challenge, every step you take in October is a step closer to making sure nobody has to face a mental health problem alone.
Every step counts in the fight for mental health.

To get started all you need to do is join our Facebook group then click the link to complete official registration. Once you've registered, a Facebook fundraising page will be automatically created for you and you can begin sharing it with your friends and family.
You can also register without joining the Facebook group, here.
We'll send you a free t-shirt and tracker to thank you for your efforts and your support. If you raise £150 we'll also send you an exclusive 10,000 steps a day in October medal!
No, it's completely free to sign up.
Yes, of course. You can register by filling in the form and creating your JustGiving page instead.
Please check our t-shirt size guide https://www.mind.org.uk/media/2dzimxol/mind-cotton-t-shirt-size-guide.pdf
You'll receive a free Mind t-shirt after you've set up your fundraiser. To do so you'll need to complete this form and click on the 'Submit and Activate Fundraiser' button at the bottom. It can take between 10-14 days to receive your t-shirt so please be patient.
If it's been over 14 days since you've created your fundraising page (please check if you've registered and received confirmation email from us) and you still haven't received your t-shirt, please send us an email at [email protected] with your full name and the date you registered.
Fundraising
By filling in the registration form (it takes less than 2 mins), your Facebook fundraising page will be created for you. Share your page with your family and friends and ask them to support your efforts and donate to the cause.
We'll be on hand in the Facebook group to provide helpful tips and support with your fundraising efforts throughout the challenge.
Yes, of course! You can register by filling in the form and creating your JustGiving page instead.
Yes. The easiest way is to collect their donation offline and donate it your fundraiser yourself. Or by directing them to your JustGiving page if you choose to fundraise off Facebook.
No. Every pound you raise will go straight to Mind. All funds will help provide lifesaving information and support to anyone experiencing a mental health problem.
Each fundraising page has a default target of £150 but you're welcome to edit it to an amount you're more comfortable with.
Yes, Mind will receive 100% of the donations from your Facebook fundraiser. If you're fundraising through JustGiving, their payment processing fee is 1.9% + 20p.
Of course! If you wish to fundraise for your local Mind, please contact them directly and they'll let you know what fundraising events they're currently running.
10,000 steps a day in October is a fundraising challenge, and we'd ask that you please try and fundraise if taking part in the challenge. However, we recognise that times are tough for some of us right now and not everyone will be in the position to donate as much or as often. We'll be on hand to provide support and tips throughout the challenge. Every penny you raise is hugely appreciated and will go towards providing life changing support for those living with a mental health problem. If you'd like to make a one-time donation to Mind instead of fundraise you can do so here.
Walking
That's entirely up to you. You can use an online tracker, such as Strava, your mobile phone pedometer, or a smart watch.
Don't forget to download our tracker and record your steps throughout the challenge.
We'd love you to smash those 10,000 steps every day, but we also understand that sometimes life has other plans. If you can't, then that's ok. The important thing is that you're still a part of raising funds for mental health.
- Take the stairs instead of the lift
- Go for a walk on your lunch break
- Include walking as a part of socialising with friends
- Walk for short commutes instead of taking public transport
- Get off a bus stop/train one stop earlier
- Join a walking group
- Set yourself a target - walking to an album, a podcast episode, or a few chapters of your new audiobook.
Walking is a low impact activity that's accessible to most people. You don't need any equipment and you can do it almost anywhere! And we know moving your body more can have great benefits for our mental health.
Making a difference
By raising funds for Mind, you're joining our fight for better, more equal mental health services for all. Your fundraising will help us be there for anyone who needs it, when they need it, by providing support and access to the right information.
