Move for Mind 2024 has now come to an end.

Thank you to everyone who took part!

What is Move for Mind?

In Move for Mind 2024, you'll do 31 minutes of activity on every day in January.

It's a way to get active, have fun, and help us make sure that no one faces a mental health problem alone. You'll raise money and awareness, all while improving your mental and physical wellbeing.

Why should I get involved?

Over the last 4 years, the incredible Move for Mind community has raised more than £1 million in the fight for better mental health.

But often, access to mental health support is still determined by where we live or who we are. At Mind, we're dedicated to ending this injustice.

We support people disproportionally affected by mental health issues - including people from racialised communities, young people, and people living in poverty.

If you’re not sure about raising money for us during the cost of living crisis, we understand. If you can keep supporting us, it’s never been more important.

Your money powers our helplines. It helps us write our information on money and mental health. And it means we can push the government to do more to help people with mental health problems.

By joining Move for Mind, you'll join thousands of other people that have already successfully fundraised for this challenge.

Whether this is your first fundraiser or you're a Move for Mind returner, we're here to help you all the way. Hit your fundraising targets and get exclusive merch, all while knowing that you're fighting for better mental health.

Frequently asked questions

Below are a list of Move for Mind FAQs. You should find the answer you're looking for here, but if not, please drop us an email at [email protected]

Move for Mind is a virtual fundraising challenge. It encourages you to get active in January by exercising for 31 minutes each day for 31 days. Join our supportive community on Facebook and get started today!

The Move for Mind Facebook group opens on 1 December 2023. The challenge starts on 1 January 2024 and runs until 31 January.

To get started, simply click the sign up button at the top of this page. Once you've signed up, you can join our Facebook group.

In the group, you'll receive loads of tips, support, and inspiration from other Move for Mind fundraisers. You'll also be able to share updates about how your journey is going.

You can set up a JustGiving fundraising page after you join the Move for Mind Facebook group. It should take less than 5 minutes to set up.

The instructions on how to set up your JustGiving page are pinned to the top of the Facebook group. Once your fundraiser is set up, you’ll be able to share it with your friends and family on social media.

Check out our digital welcome pack for fundraising tips.

There is no registration fee to sign up for Move for Mind.

No, there’s no minimum fundraising amount. The default amount on each fundraiser is set at £150 but you can change this amount. All that we ask is that you raise as much as you can. As a thank you, we’ll send you a Move for Mind medal and beanie if you reach £150.

If someone wants to donate by cash or cheque, collect their donation and pay it into your personal bank account. You can then donate it directly to your fundraising page yourself.

If you fundraised through a JustGiving fundraising page, there's nothing you need to do. All donations will automatically come directly to Mind.

If you were given donations as cash or cheques, we suggest paying this in to your own bank account. Then, pay the money into your JustGiving fundraising page yourself.

If you'd prefer to send us your cash or cheque donations a different way, email [email protected] and we’ll help with this.

When you set up a Move for Mind JustGiving fundraising page, we'll send you a free Move for Mind t-shirt and welcome pack.

The pack has a list of suggested activities for inspiration, and a paper tracker where you can record your daily 31 minutes of exercise.

Please allow up to 14 days to receive these after you set up your fundraiser. If you haven't received these after 14 days, let us know on the Facebook group or email us at [email protected]

Check our t-shirt size guide

Email [email protected] to ask us not to send you one.

If you've already received your t-shirt, email us and we’ll let you know how to return it for free.

You can do anything you like to take part in Move for Mind. Have a jog round the park before work, have a dance around your living room, skip on the spot, or cycle!

You can complete the same exercise every day or mix it up! It’s entirely up to you what you do to Move for Mind.

If you’re stuck for ideas, check out our handy A-Z list of physical activities for inspiration. Or, get some inspiration from our friendly Facebook group

You can take part in Move for Mind at any age. However, you must be over 18 to register and set up a fundraising page.

If you're under 18, a parent or caregiver will need to sign up on your behalf. Email us at [email protected] to let us know.

Absolutely! Whether you want to inspire your family to create new habits, or encourage some friendly competition among your friends. Move for Mind is even more fun when you’ve got teammates to keep you motivated.

JustGiving team pages let you and your friends join your individual fundraising pages together to contribute to an overall total. They’re great if you want to raise money separately, while still contributing to a larger team goal!

You can! If you'd like to fundraise for your local Mind, please contact them directly. They'll let you know what fundraising events they're currently running.

Because Move for Mind is a fundraising challenge, we ask that you please try and fundraise if you take part.

However, we recognise that times are tough for many of us right now. Not everyone will be in the position to donate.

We'll be here to offer support and tips throughout the challenge. Every penny you raise is hugely appreciated. It all goes towards offering life changing support for people with mental health problems.

You don't have to prove to us that you completed your Move for Mind challenge.

However, we'd love to hear your updates and how you're getting on. You can share your updates on the Move for Mind Facebook group.

If you want to, you can use the exercise tracker from your welcome pack to record your daily activity. Then, take a photo of it to share on the Facebook group!

Of course! This challenge is for everyone, and every 31 minutes of activity you complete will make a difference.

If you can’t manage this every day, that’s fine. Please take the time you need to rest.

We want to make sure that everyone feels as involved in Move for Mind as possible. For that reason, we’ve decided to offer a free t-shirt to anyone who creates a fundraising page for their challenge.

We're giving everyone who registers a free t-shirt, so they can feel part of the Move for Mind community, while raising awareness of Mind and mental health.

Congratulations on raising such an impressive amount! We'll be sending out the bespoke Move for Mind medals and beanies every week, in batches.

You should receive yours within 14 days of raising £150. If you haven’t received yours after 14 days, please email us at [email protected]

We'll post a Move for Mind beanie hat and medal once you have fundraised £150 on your fundraising page. The cut off date for raising this amount and being sent these items is 11:59pm on 14 February 2024.

If you have offline fundraising like cash or cheques, you'll need to pay this in before we can send you your beanie and medal.

Email [email protected] if you have any questions.
