Why should I get involved?

In 4 years the incredible Move for Mind community has raised over £1 million in the fight for better mental health. But access to mental health support is still too often determined by where we live or who we are. At Mind, we're dedicated to ending this injustice, and supporting people disproportionally affected by mental health issues; people from racialised communities, young people, and people living in poverty.

If you’re not sure about raising money for us during this crisis we understand. If you can keep supporting, it’s never been more important. Your money powers our helplines. It helps write our information on money and mental health. And it lets us push the UK government to do more to help people with support on mental health and bills.

By joining Move for Mind you'll be joining thousands of other people that have already successfully fundraised for this challenge. Whether this is your first fundraiser or you're a Move for Mind returner, we're here to help you all the way. Hit your fundraising targets and receive exclusive merch all in the knowledge that you're supporting mental health.

The Move for Mind Facebook group opens on 1 December 2023, and the challenge starts on 1 January 2024 and runs until 31 January.

To get started simply join our Facebook group. Once in the group you'll be able to request your free t-shirt simply by setting up your JustGiving page. While in the group you'll receive loads of tips, support, and inspiration from other Move for Mind fundraisers, along with being able to share updates about how your journey is going!

You can set up a JustGiving fundraising page in under 5 minutes after joining our Facebook group – the instructions on how to set up your Move For Mind JustGiving fundraising page are pinned to the group for ease. Once your fundraiser is set up, you’ll be able to share it with your friends and family on social media. Here is a link to your digital welcome pack for more top fundraising tips.

There is no registration fee to sign up for Move for Mind. Just choose the exercise/s you’re going to be doing for 31 minutes every day in January and raise money and help us fight for mental health across England and Wales.

No, there’s no minimum fundraising amount. The default amount on each fundraiser is set at £150 but you can edit this amount. All that we ask is that you raise as much as you can, and every penny you raise will go towards providing lifesaving information and support to anyone experiencing a mental health problem. As a thank you we’ll send a Move for Mind medal and beanie if you reach £150.

If someone wants to donate to your Move for Mind fundraiser but would prefer to donate offline, the best thing is to collect their donation offline and pay it into your personal account. You can then donate it directly to your fundraiser yourself.

Your fundraising will help us be there for anyone who needs it, when they need it, by offering support and access to the right information. To find out more about the services Mind offers, please click below.

If you have fundraised through your JustGiving fundraising page then there is nothing you need to do. All donations will automatically come directly to Mind. If you have offline fundraising to pay in, we would suggest paying this in to your own account and then onto your JustGiving fundraising page yourself. However, if you would prefer to send us your offline fundraising a different way please email [email protected] and we’ll be happy to help with this.

When you set up a Move for Mind JustGiving fundraising page you will be sent a free Move for Mind t-shirt and welcome pack. The pack contains a list of suggested physical activities for inspiration and a paper tracker where you can record your daily 31 minutes of exercise. Please allow up to 14 days to receive these after you have set up your fundraiser. If you haven't received these after 14 days then please let us know on the Facebook group or email us at: [email protected]. Thank you for your patience.

Please check our t-shirt size guide

You can either email [email protected] and let us know not to send you one. Or, if it’s too late then we’ll let you know how to return the t-shirt to us at no cost.

Absolutely! Whether you want to inspire your family to create new and healthy habits, or encourage some friendly competition amongst your friends - Move for Mind is even more fun when you’ve got teammates to keep you motivated. JustGiving team pages allow you and your friends to join your individual fundraising pages together to contribute to an overall total. They’re great if you want to raise money separately while still contributing to a larger team goal!

Of course! If you wish to fundraise for your local Mind, please contact them directly and they'll let you know what fundraising events they're currently running.

Because Move for Mind is a fundraising challenge, we would ask that you please try and fundraise if taking part in the challenge. However, we recognise that times are tough for some of us right now and not everyone will be in the position to donate as much or as often. We will be at hand to offer support and tips throughout the challenge. Every penny you raise is hugely appreciated and will go towards offering life changing support for those living with a mental health problem.

There is no need for you to prove to us that you have completed your Move for Mind challenge. However, we would love to hear your updates and how you are getting on by sharing this on the Move for Mind Facebook group. If you would like, you can use your Move for Mind exercise tracker in your welcome pack to record your daily physical activity and then take a photo to share on the Facebook group once you have completed your challenge.

Of course! This challenge is for everyone, and every 31 minutes of physical activity you complete will make a difference. If you can’t manage this every day, that’s fine, please take the time you need to rest. Remember, raising money and awareness for mental health while improving your own mental and physical wellbeing is the most important thing.

We want to make sure everyone feels as involved in Move for Mind this year and as many people take part as possible. For that reason, we’ve decided to offer a free t-shirt to anyone who creates a fundraising page for their challenge.

We are giving everyone who registers for Move for Mind a free t-shirt so that they can feel part of the Move for Mind community while also raising awareness of Mind and mental health.

Congratulations on raising such an impressive amount! We will be sending out the bespoke Move for Mind medals and beanies on a weekly basis in batches. Please expect to receive these within 14 days of raising £150. If you haven’t received yours after 14 days, please contact [email protected].
