What is 10,000 steps a day in October?

Welcome to Mind's 10,000 steps a day in October challenge! Walking has many benefits for our mental health and wellbeing, from improving mood to helping reduce stress and anxiety. By taking on this challenge you'll not only be helping raise money for mental health but also taking care of your own.

There is no need to drastically change your lifestyle to increase your step count. Some of the little ways you can get that step count soaring include taking more walks, opting for the stairs instead of the escalator, and swapping out a section of your commute in place of an extra stint on foot.

When you step it up for mental health, Mind is with you every step of the way!

Your challenge perks!

  • A free Mind t-shirt. We'll send your swag once you've completed your registration and set up your fundraising page, so you can don the official uniform of #TeamMind.
  • A free tracker. You'll receive this with your t-shirt, so you can keep an eye on your progress.
  • A challenge medal. Raise £150 and we'll send your 10,000 steps a day in October medal as a little thank you.
  • The chance to win prizes. You'll be in with a chance of winning a number of special prizes in giveaways throughout the challenge.
  • The opportunity to move more. Our challenges present a great opportunity to get moving. And moving more day to day is known to help improve our overall wellbeing in lots of ways, from sleeping better to stressing less.
  • A chance to challenge yourself. Whether you're doing something totally different or making a small adjustment to something you do already, by challenging yourself for mental health you can give your mind and body a new combined focus.
  • A way to champion mental health for everyone (especially you). Two birds, one priority - mental health. By moving more you're prioritising your own mental health as well as raising funds. It's win-win!

Your impact

You want a future where having a mental health problem doesn't mean waiting lists, stigma and isolation. Where the 1 in 4 of us with a mental health problem each year can get quality support. So do we. By taking on this challenge for Mind you'll be fighting to make that happen.

We couldn't be happier to have you by our side.
