About the Great Manchester Half Marathon 2026

The Great Manchester Half Marathon attracts thousands of runners each year. The fast, flat course goes through the heart of the city. It's a great race for runners of all abilities.

By taking part as a Mind runner, you're not just crossing the finish line. You’re helping us make sure that no one faces a mental health problem alone.

How to register

Mind has a set number of places in the Great Manchester Run Half Marathon. To grab one of our places, click on the register button above. These places are £20, and we’ll ask you to raise at least £300.

You might already have a place in the run. If you’d like to use your place to raise money for Mind, you can. We’d love to have you on the team.

What time does the Great Manchester Run Half Marathon start?

The race starts at 8:20 AM. Make sure you arrive early so you have time to drop off your bag, warm up, and get to the start line.

Runners will start in waves, based on how long they think they’ll take to finish. You'll get your exact start time in the event instructions sent to you before race day.

Where is the Great Manchester Manchester Run Half Marathon start point?

The Great Manchester Run Half Marathon starts on Portland Street, Manchester City Centre. This central location provides easy access for all participants.

The closest tram stops to the start line include:

  • St Peter’s Square (Metrolink) – just a short walk from the start area
  • Piccadilly Gardens (Metrolink) – another convenient stop within walking distance

Make sure you check public transport schedules in advance, as services may be busy on the event day.
