British Airways workplace wellbeing initiatives

In May 2024, Mind, SAMH and British Airways took off on an exciting new partnership.

It was aimed at raising awareness of mental health with colleagues and customers as well as raising vital funds for mental health.

In just the first few months, the partnership raised an impressive £65,000 to support Mind and SAMH’s life-changing work. This multi-year collaboration is set to make a lasting impact both in the air and on the ground.

Our story so far

In the first year of their partnership, Mind and British Airways drove powerful conversations about mental health across the airline’s colleague network. To kick things off, Mind took the stage at BA’s 2024 Mental Health Summit to talk about mental health, sparking dialogue on workplace wellbeing.

Every month, colleagues received fresh updates on mental health themes and Mind initiatives, keeping the topic front of mind. Mind also provided dedicated comms packs which activated key mental health moments like World Mental Health Day, Stress Awareness Month, Pride, and Black History Month, giving teams ready-to-use tools to engage colleagues.

Wellbeing champions amplified the message through interactive presentations and inspiring talks with Mind service users, bringing lived experiences to life. Mind and British Airways also provided Mind merchandise and information leaflets to further spread awareness and signpost to support.

Lastly, Mind’s presence at the BA wellbeing fair – with a branded stall, representative, and resources – created a hands-on opportunity for colleagues to connect. Together, these actions embedded mental health into daily life at BA – a great example for how Mind can work together with organisations to build momentum and shift culture.
