Whistleblowing policy

Across Mind, we expect the highest standards of conduct, safeguarding, ethics and legal compliance.

Speak up, report misconduct

If you have a concern, please tell us as soon as possible. We will make sure that the matter is investigated and that you are protected from any unfair treatment.

Here are some examples of whistleblowing concerns:

  • A criminal offence such as fraud or theft
  • A danger to the safety of an individual
  • A legal obligation has been breached
  • The deliberate breach of a Mind policy or asking others to do so
  • The environment has been damaged
  • Modern slavery
  • Information about any of the above has been concealed

How to raise a concern

Concerns can be reported through Safecall, an independent and confidential reporting service.

To raise a concern of serious wrongdoing, a Safecall report can be submitted online or by phone by contacting 0800 9151571.

Anyone can raise a concern about any part of Mind’s work, with the option to remain anonymous.

  • Please note that if insufficient information is provided this may affect our capacity to investigate the matter.
  • If you are a national Mind or Mind Retail employee, please refer to Mind’s internal whistleblowing policy for more information.

Raising a concern about a local Mind?

Please include the name of the local Mind when raising a concern through Safecall. Local Minds are independent organisations and required to have their own robust procedures to investigate whistleblowing concerns.

With your permission, we will share your report with the local Mind. We expect that

  • Concerns are taken seriously through a robust investigation process
  • Anyone raising a concern in good faith is protected from unfair treatment

National Mind cannot investigate concerns about local Minds directly. You can find out more about how we work with local Minds here.

Wish to raise a complaint?

If you wish to make a complaint about Mind’s work, please do not lodge your complaint with Safecall. You can find out how to make a complaint here.
