Guide to reaching your fundraising target

It’s great to set ambitious targets for your fundraising. But sometimes it can be a bit daunting. On this page you’ll find tips to help you reach those fundraising milestones.

Raising £5000

£5000 is a huge amount of money. It could help our campaigns reach more people. The more people that hear about our campaigns and add their support, the greater chance we have of grabbing the government’s attention and driving change to the mental health system.

It can take a while to raise £5000. Here’s some steps you can take to keep your fundraising growing.

  • Organise a quiz night. Ask players to donate £5 per ticket and invite a minimum of 20 people – you’ll hit your first £100 quickly! We've got a guide to organising a successful quiz.
  • Host a summer BBQ or winter bonfire night. Ask for donations, and include a raffle with prizes from local businesses. Remember to check if you need a gambling licence for raffles or prize draws.
  • Gift Aid. If your sponsors are UK taxpayers, make sure they tick the Gift Aid box when they donate. An extra 25% will be added to their donation at no extra cost to them.
  • Give something up. Donate the money you would have spent and ask people to sponsor you too.
  • Shout about it. Make as much noise as you can, letting everyone know what you’re doing and why. We’ve got loads of tips on sharing your fundraising.
  • Get active. Set yourself a challenge, like trekking Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) or cycling a long distance. Ask your family, friends and colleagues to sponsor you.
