About the Borders Ultra Challenge

The ‘Borders Ultra Challenge’ will be take the Ultra Challenge Series into Scotland in 2027.

It’s a new ‘double marathon’ format – and we’re encouraging as many as possible to take on the ‘full challenge’!

From a start in Berwick-Upon-Tweed, in England and just south of the border – the 84 km route heads around the historic town and onto to the Berwickshire Coastal Path to Emouth, St Abb’s Head, and then a welcome halfway stop at the marathon distance. Up to Dunbar and inland from the John Muir Country park to the welcome finish line in delightful seaside town of North Berwick.

With marathon & a 10 mile option also – there’s a Borders Challenge for everyone!

How much does it cost to sign up to the Borders Ultra Challenge?

There are 2 ways to sign up.

Option 1 - fundraise for Mind, and we'll cover the cost of your place

If you sign up and fundraise for Mind, you’ll get a discount on the registration fee.

This means you pay a small registration fee, do lots of fundraising, and we cover the cost of your event place.

  • If you do the double marathon - Your registration fee will be £25, and you'll fundraise at least £575
  • If you do the marathon - Your registration fee will be £20 and you'll fundraise at least £375
  • If you do 10 miles - Your registration fee will be £7.50, and you'll fundraise at least £150

Option 2 - you cover all the costs yourself

In this option, you pay the full cost of the event place. And you can fundraise however much you'd like.

  • If you do the double marathon - Your registration fee will be £199
  • If you do the marathon - Your registration fee will be £139
  • If you do 10 miles - Your registration fee will be £49

"The positive influence hiking in nature has had on my mental wellbeing is the reason why I’ve chosen to raise money for Mind."
