Spring fundraising ideas

From a spring clean to Mental Health Awareness Week, there's loads to be getting into when we move out of winter:

  • Do a clear out. Get that feeling of satisfaction and start the clear out you’ve been putting off. Sell your old things online or at a car boot sale, then donate the money to your fundraising. Or, help a friend with their spring clean and in return ask for a donation towards your fundraising.
  • Get moving. Spring into action and take part in a sponsored activity. Why not invite your friends and family to enjoy the longer lighter days and join you on a sponsored walk?
  • Mark Mental Health Awareness Week in May. This is the perfect time to fundraise for Mind. Get your friends and family together for a coffee morning or an afternoon tea, and show you’re there to listen, all while raising money for Mind!

Summer fundraising ideas

When the sun's shining and the weather's getting warm, these summer fundraising ideas are perfect for making the most of the outdoors:

  • Host a BBQ. Invite your friends and family and ask for a donation to Mind. Include some fundraising games, like a raffle, or who can eat a hotdog the fastest challenge!
  • Teddy Bears picnic. If you go down in the woods today, you’d better go in disguise… Head down to the local park or woods with your friends, family and teddy bears, and have a picnic!
  • Sports day. Charge a small fee to take part, and give out prizes for the champions. Take on the egg and spoon race, the sack race or the wheelbarrow race.
  • Wimbledon. With June comes Wimbledon, and plenty of fundraising opportunities. Host a sweepstake, a Wimbledon Garden party or even your own mini-Wimbledon tournament.

Autumn fundraising ideas

When the season of pumpkin lattes is upon us, celebrate all things autumn with our favourite seasonal fundraising tips:

  • National Poetry Day. Have you got a way with words? Celebrate by writing a poem or hosting a poetry open mic night. Charge entry or ask people to donate to your online page.
  • Celebrate Chocolate Week. Build a chocolate box of dreams and run a prize draw at your work. No will be able to resist!
  • Pumpkin carving. Carve out some time for a pumpkin contest! Get your friends and family together and ask for donations to enter the competition.
  • Halloween movie quiz night. Think you know your scary movies? Get your favourite ghostbusters together and challenge them to a Halloween quiz. Ask them to donate the price of a night at the movies.

Winter fundraising ideas

Even on a cold winter day, there are plenty of ways to have fun and raise money for mental health. Here are a few of our favourites:

  • Throw a winter party. Ask friends and family to make a donation to come along. You could hold an auction and have games, put together lots of winter-themed decorations, and if you’re feeling competitive, arrange a costume competition!
  • Cosy crafting. Snuggle up indoors and get creative. Bake stained-glass window biscuits to sell to friends and colleagues. These look impressive but are easy to make. Try stars, hearts, snowflakes, or any cookie-cutter shape you have at home!
  • February foodie. February is a great time to celebrate all things food. Why not satisfy your taste buds and fundraise for Mind at the same time? Whether it’s a pancake flipping competition or a pizza cook off for National Pizza Day. Get your best chef hat on to raise money for Mind!

Easter fundraising ideas

  • Easter egg hunt. The timeless classic. Get children and adults hunting for chocolate eggs around your garden, home or somewhere else. And charge a small fee to take part.
  • Hot cross bun bake sale. Baking and selling your creations
is a fun and yummy way to raise money. These seasonal treats are sure to be a success.
  • Decorate the egg competition. Charge an entry fee, use real boiled eggs and organise a donated prize for the winner. You could appoint a judge or get people to vote by putting their spare change in a collection box in front of their favourite.

Valentine's fundraising ideas

Make the most of the buzz with our romantic (and not-so) fundraising ideas:

  • Get crafty. Make some cute, simple, hilarious cards to sell for the big day. You may find friends and colleagues who’ve forgotten a card for their partner are particularly receptive!
  • Anti-valentine. If all the romantic stuff isn’t your thing, why not a hold a scary film night with snacks. Charge for entry and enjoy this satisfying antidote to all things lovey dovey.
  • Palentine's Day. Get your friends together and host a cheese and wine night or at-home spa day, asking for a donation from attendees.

Christmas fundraising ideas

  • Christmas wrapping station. Set up a stall at work and wrap people’s Christmas presents for them, all for a donation to Mind.
  • Elf auction. The run-up to the festive season can be a stressful time. Fancy easing the burden by having a ‘little helper’ at your disposal? In the Elf Auction, willing colleagues are loaned out to the highest bidder. Behind on your gift wrapping? No time to make a cuppa? Well that’s what elves are for!
  • Guess the little angel. Set up a gallery of friends' baby photos or images of famous people in their younger years. Ask people to make a £1 donation to guess as many as they can.
