How to organise a bake sale
From a small office bake sale to a full blown bake-off competition, cakes are a great way to fundraise for Mind. Dust off your apron, find your inner Mary Berry and follow these steps to help make your event a recipe for success.
When and where
Choose a date and venue to hold your bake sale.
What?
Decide if you want to hold a bake-off or a traditional bake sale.
Advertise
Spread the word. You could advertise on your company’s intranet or put up posters around the office.
Theme
Encourage your colleagues, friends and family to join in. You could pick a theme depending on when you’re holding your event – Easter, Halloween or Christmas?
Pricing
Decide on a price for each slice or cake. We’d suggest donations between 50p and £2. Make labels for the cakes and include any allergy information.
Judging
If you’re holding a bake-off, ask everyone to score the cakes from 1-10. You could rate them based on taste, appearance and creativity. Using the average scores, crown the winning baker. You could even hold a bake-off over several weeks and ask senior management to judge the final for you.
Enjoy
Good luck with raising lots of dough!
