Mind in the City, Hackney and Waltham Forest – female peer support worker
We're looking for a Female Peer Support Worker to offer support and recovery guidance to individuals experiencing common and severe mental health problems. The ideal candidate will use their own life experience of mental distress and recovery or as a carer as a template.
What you'll do
In this role you'll:
- Develop rapport and therapeutic relationships with service users
- Offer regular and practical support to service users in developing and managing independence and maintaining dignity and self-respect
- Be a fully functioning member of the Neighbourhood Team (NT), managing a caseload alongside other multi-disciplinary team members
- Offer evidence-based and individualised mental health care to a clearly defined group of patients
- Plan care in association with other members of the multi-disciplinary team and external teams working with the service user
- Involve service users and, where appropriate, carers in the care planning and care delivery
- Attend training in trauma-informed care alongside team members
About you
We're looking for someone with:
- Ability to communicate complex information to other professionals
- Ability to apply knowledge of mental health issues and conditions, and the associated challenges and issues
- Understanding of peer support and personal recovery approaches
- Ability to manage a varied and complex workload effectively
