Local Minds in Wales
Each of the 16 local Minds in Wales is different, in that they all offer mental health services tailored to and responding to the needs of their local community.
Where is my local Mind, how can they help me and how can I support them?
“I can hand on heart say my local Mind not only kept me alive, they kept me alive and in my home with my children. I now know I deserve to be happy.”
Your local Mind is there for you and for anyone with a mental health problem.
Every local Mind is different. Often located at the heart of their community, services are based on what is needed.
This means what’s available may vary from one local Mind to another.
Many local Minds provide therapy and counselling services, while some provide urgent support when someone is reaching a crisis with their mental health.
You can find information and advice on benefits, housing and legal rights at some local Minds.

Simon's Blog
Simon, our Head of Networks explains how local Minds can help.
How can you support your local Mind?
Being independent charities, local Minds raise their own funds. Each local Mind has a board of trustees, volunteering their time to set organisation strategy.
You can help your local Mind to do more by fundraising. Giving locally means your donation will support your community.
Volunteering at your local Mind can help support more people in your area.
Organisations can also join the fight for mental health.
What is the Mind federation?
We are part of a family that includes our charity shops and a network of over 100 local Mind charities across England and Wales.
We are united by our common purpose, we won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect.
Between them, the 18 local Minds in Wales have a presence or service offer across each of Wales’ 22 Local Authorities area and have a presence in each of the 7 local Health Board footprints.
How do Mind Cymru and local Minds work together?
By working with local Minds, we can reach more people and build a healthier Wales. We share knowledge and ideas. We support and invest in local Minds’ work.
Our three-year strategic plan, One Mind in Wales, sets out how we will work together as a network to become more inclusive and effective. Together we can reach every corner of Wales, offering services and support for people living with mental health problems.
