Would you like to be involved in shaping Mind's contribution to Black History Month?

What's the opportunity?

We are looking for one person with lived experience to influence our external communications on Black History Month.

We are keen to celebrate key awareness dates on our social media channels and with our funders and supporters. This year will be the third year Mind have celebrated Black History Month, and we are keen to work with people with lived experience of mental health problems to shape our external communications.

We hope to create relatable content that resonates with our key audiences. We would like to work with someone to:

  • Be involved in the shaping of our key messages
  • Be involved in discussing the content that we put together on our social channels – one of which will be a short film
  • Work with us to decide the best channels for our content
  • Share your expertise from your lived experience
  • Be involved in other content we might put together, for example content in our Membership magazine, or an animation
  • Be happy to liaise with other organisations we hope to partner with
  • Be able to work with us for 12 hours over three months

To take part you must:

  • Have lived experience of mental health problems
  • Be a Black woman or young person (this is because part of the content will be focused on Black women’s experiences)
  • Live in England or Wales
  • Be happy to be involved online only
  • Be happy speaking to people external to Mind, for example a film-maker
  • Be happy to work with people at Mind from a range of teams
  • Have a keen interest in equality
  • Be available for online meetings on weekdays. Dates will be planned with you in advance and will not exceed 12 hours over three months.
  • Be available to start as soon as possible

Our way of saying thanks

We will pay you £200 for your time working with us.

How to get involved

Please complete an application form and Equality & Diversity monitoring form. Send these back to Kate Wainwright [email protected] by Friday 9th July. Please let us know if you would like the application in another format.

The successful candidate will be selected by Kate Wainwright (Equity Innovation Officer), and Emma White (Senior Communications Account Officer). We will be basing our decision on the quality of the application forms.

We will get back to you as soon as possible to let you know if you have been successful. We know it can be disappointing if you aren’t successful, but we hope that there will be other opportunities in the future that will be of interest to you.
