Chartered Institute of Housing

We're working together with the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) to improve mental health support for employees in the social housing sector.

Housing professionals sometimes work with tenants who are in distress or experiencing mental health problems and this can affect their own mental wellbeing. People in the social housing sector often work alone and may have limited opportunities to get support for their mental health.

That is why we are working with the CIH to shine a light on mental health in the housing sector, and ensure that all employees, including those with mental health problems, can remain in and thrive through work.

Mind and the Chartered Institute of Housing developed a guide on how employers can support the mental health of people across their organisation, providing practical advice on what employers in the housing sector can do to better support all their staff.

The CIH are also going to great lengths for fundraising for Mind, aiming to raise £75,000 by November 2020. There has been an am amazing response from CIH members to this fundraising campaign and they are well on their way to meeting this target.
