West Sussex Mind has an exciting new opportunity for a Peer Support Worker to join our successful Be OK Service, working with young people aged 16 – 25 to improve their mental health. We know how challenging the covid-19 pandemic has been for young people and we are looking forward to offering more varied activities by expanding our team.
We are looking for an individual who has a passion and interest in mental health and some experience in this area through employment or volunteering. We particularly encourage applications from people who have personal lived experiences of having mental health challenges and using mental health services as a young person themselves.
As a Peer Support Worker, you will contribute to and lead on the delivery of face to face and video conference social, creative and leisure activities for young people. You will use your communication skills to interact with young people both directly, and through social media, newsletters and podcasts. You will work closely with other Peer Support Workers and Youth Mental Health Workers within your team providing support to young people across West Sussex.
Days and hours worked to be agreed in-line with service requirements. Please state clearly on your application any preferred days and hours. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
The successful candidate will need to be able to travel to sites across the area.
Please find an application form, guidance notes, competency framework, job description and equal opportunity monitoring form on our website: https://www.westsussexmind.org/jobs/youth-mental-health-peer-support-worker-2
