West Sussex Mind - Mental Health Sessional Worker

About the role

West Sussex Mind is a local mental health charity committed to promoting mental well-being in local communities and supporting the recovery and independence of individuals we provide support to. We work alongside other organisations within the Pathfinder West Sussex Alliance to enable people with mental health support needs and their carers to improve their mental health and wellbeing.  We have a vacancy in the Chanctonbury area for a Grade 2 Mental Health Sessional Worker

The mental health support services provide structured support helping individuals to identify what they need and what they want to achieve around their mental health and then supporting them to develop the confidence and skills to make this happen through individual and group support. They work closely together with West Sussex Mind Help-point and Service Navigation and Social Activities and Support services to provide a seamless pathway of care and support to people who need help.

Successful applicants will provide recovery focused 1:1 and group support and learning opportunities, both in person and online, as well as developing peer led support within services. This role has a particular brief to develop group support in the rural villages in the patch, and will also be supporting the rest of the team and covering staff sickness.

As well as having some experience of working with people with mental health problems, post-holders will need to demonstrate enthusiasm and passion for recovery focused mental health work and show that they can be a strong team player with real commitment to their work. They will also need to have initiative and be able to contribute to the direction and development of the service.

Given the rural nature of the service successful applicants must have a full UK driving licence and an independent means of transport in order to fulfil the role (mileage will be paid for travel).
