About our race equity work

Becoming an anti-racist charity is a big part of our strategy. This is why we've created:

  • the Race Equity in Mind initiative
  • our Blueprint for change.

We're aiming to challenge the way we work. And we're not just looking at the results of our race equity work. We're also making sure our everyday work creates space for change.

About the role

Location: Stratford, London or Cardiff (working from home during COVID-19)

Contract: Fixed term for 9 Months

Salary: £70,000 (pro-rata)

Hours: Flexible, between 21 and 35 hours per week

As Strategic Advisor on Race Equity, you'll bring:

  • senior expertise in driving change to achieve race equity
  • a deep understanding of the approaches that work. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • supporting and challenging our senior team at Mind to establish a shared understanding of what it takes, individually and organisationally, to deliver the Race Equity at Mind Initiative
  • strategic oversight of Mind'sMind's Race Equity work
  • building the foundations for creating a new Race Equity & Transformation Directorate
  • engaging people across Mind as we work together to innovate and find the right solutions.

You must be prepared to honour the pain and trauma that accompanies work related to racial justice. And you'll be committed to working with colleagues to create trust and safe spaces that enable deep listening and reflection.

The role is a part of the Chief Executive's team and sits within our Executive team. At first, the postholder will work from home. After lockdown, you'll work at our office for at least 2 days a week, depending on your team's needs.
