Oxfordshire Mind - A&E Outreach Support Worker

About the role

You'll work 1-1 with people who've come to A&E with self-harm and/or suicidal thoughts. Specifically, people the medical team have decided don't need secondary mental health care. You'll work with them to develop personalised safety plans. Plans will aim to reduce the risk of self-harm or suicide. 

The role involves working with other teams to support people across Berkshire. Teams you'll work closely with will include:

  • local Mind services
  • the Psychological Medicine Service at Royal Berkshire Hospital A&E.

You'll:

  • engage with partners and services in the community
  • create links and pathways that people experiencing mental health distress can use
  • take a person-centred, non-judgemental approach
  • work with people through a combination of face-to-face or remote (phone or video) contact
  • address social and practical factors relevant to people's wellbeing and mental health.
