About the role

We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect. We provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. We campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

Applications are now open for people who have recent experience of using local Mind or other mental health services, to become Mind Quality Mark Services Reviewers.

The Mind Quality Mark (MQM) is the quality framework for Mind. The overall aim of MQM is to support local Minds to be as sustainable, effective and influential as possible, providing a framework for self-improvement in the interests of the communities they serve. Mind’s ambition is to become a truly anti-racist organisation. We focus on Equality and Diversity through the MQM process to support local Mind in their commitment towards achieving this aim.

MQM sets out the baseline of best practice and legal compliance in all areas of a local Mind’s governance and activities. It details the hallmarks of a well-run, sustainable organisation that can make a real impact on the lives of people experiencing or at risk of experiencing mental health problems.

MQM is designed to be used as an organisational development framework. As well as ensuring that everything is up to date, MQM provides the impetus for continual improvement, growth and organisational ambition.

All local Minds undergo a review against the MQM at least every 3 years. The review is based on a self-assessment and 58 supporting documents. An MQM review team is allocated to each review. The team undertakes a review of the self-assessment and supporting documentation along with interviews with a range of people form the local Mind and a visit. The interviews are normally conducted by a blend of Zoom meetings and face-to-face. The team write a report detailing the findings of the review, identifying which standards are met and where further work is needed. The report highlights areas of good practice and the review team also identifies any areas of excellence to nominate for a Mind Network Excellence Award.

The MQM Services Reviewer will focus on the MQM standards relating to service equality and effectiveness, service user experience and engagement, equality and diversity and tackling stigma and discrimination. There is also the expectation that MQM Services Reviewers will take on areas outside of the above based on their experience and interests.

Applicants will need to be able to participate in on line training for the role, which will be delivered in July and August 2021. There will be an element of assessment during the training. Successful applicants will join a pool from which teams of reviewers will be drawn for each MQM review. Whilst Mind will endeavour to provide all reviewers with a variety of reviews, there is no commitment to provide a contracted number of reviews. Previously MQM reviews have completed an average of 3 reviews per year.

This position will initially, in line with current and potentially future guidance, be based from home. Post lockdown this role will retain some flexibility but post holders will be expected to be in the office a minimum of two days thereafter (or more, depending on the arrangements of your team)
