This is an ideal opportunity for someone wishing to gain valuable office experience in a dynamic local charity, supporting the day to day work of the Mindful Connections coordinator. Mindful Connections is a befriending service that supports socially isolated older people in Hackney. The role offers the opportunity to gain experience of organising and co-producing activities and events with, and for, our older clients as well as to assist with outreach to local stakeholders to promote the service and generate referrals.
The Volunteer will work on:
- Contacting and meeting with local stakeholders (such as over 50’s service providers, pharmacies, libraries, voluntary sector organisations), to advertise the project to their clients.
- Developing relationships with sheltered housing providers, care homes and community centres with the view to arranging events for their residents who are aged 50+.
- Organising events with the Mindful Connections coordinator to expand the project’s reach locally.
- Liaising with the befriending volunteers and the project’s clients to see what groups or activities they would like to be organised and helping the coordinator to arrange these.
The role is flexible and we are looking for someone who can volunteer from our Hackney office, ideally for up to 2 days (12 hours) per week. Although the post is unpaid, we can offer reimbursement of reasonable travel (up to the oyster cap) per day and lunch expenses up to £5 per day.
