Mind in Harrow - Volunteer mental health befrienders

About the role

Can you listen without judgement? Can you keep a conversation going? Would you like to improve the quality of someone’s life and encourage them to be a little more active in their local community We are recruiting people with good communication skills and who are patient and reliable to befriend an adult in Harrow with mental health problems for 2 hours a week. It involves providing listening support, conversation and accompanying your client for walks, cafés and so on in the Harrow area.

This is a great opportunity for people studying counselling or psychology to gain experience and also a worthwhile role for people who want to help others in their community. We provide initial training (online) and supervision and guidance for you once you are matched with a client to befriend. Our next intake is Autumn 2021 so apply now by completing a volunteer application form or email/ call us if it would be helpful to speak to us about the role.
