Mind in Harrow - Chair

About the role

Could you be the leader to inspire Mind in Harrow to achieve our ambitious plans to help more people with mental health needs, while diversifying our income sources?

We are an independent local charity affiliated to national Mind with an excellent award-winning reputation driven by service user empowerment ethos. We have income of £1M income, 40 staff and over 100 volunteers supporting 3,500 people per annum. The day-to-day management of the organisation is undertaken by our senior management team.

We are seeking a Chair to lead and facilitate our Board towards a new phase of our Strategy and Mission to ensure that everyone experiencing mental health problems receives support and respect.
This is a significant opportunity for a person who has the strategic focus, governance understanding, leadership experience and emotional intelligence, to develop a high performing board and to ensure that it provides the right blend of support and challenge to the Chief Executive and Executive Team.
The Chair will have a passion for mental health and commitment to safeguard those most at risk in our society. Ideally, you will live in Harrow on in the NW London area. The Chair role is voluntary with expenses paid, a commitment of approximately -6-8 hours per month. 8 Board meetings per year take place on Monday evenings in central Harrow or currently virtually via video-conference.

We recognise the importance of having a diverse and inclusive Board of Trustees, and would therefore welcome applications reflecting the diversity of Harrow’s BAME communities. We always welcomes applications from people with lived experience of mental health problems. We are committed to meeting the reasonable adjustments of disabled people.
