Islington Mind - Crisis Café Team Leader

About the role

Are you passionate about mental health?  Islington Mind is looking to recruit a Crisis Café Team Leader to join our specialist Mental Health Recovery Pathway Service.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and communicative person with at least five years’ experience of providing direct mental health and advocacy support to people with mental health problems in one to one and in group settings, and experience in crisis management including dealing with conflicts and strong emotions.

As our Crisis Café Team Leader, you will run, manage and oversee the Crisis Café, our Mental Health Recovery Pathway’s Out of Hours therapeutic space, supervise a vibrant team of staff and volunteers, and oversee the café’s activities.

You will be on-site, running the café on Saturdays and Sundays and be required to visit the café 2 evenings every week. You will be on-call for emergencies on other evenings.

You will be responsible for supervising and processing new referrals to the Crisis Café from agencies and organisations such as the Islington Crisis Team, the Crisis Resolution Team and GP clinics, as well as providing tailored emotional containment and support, introducing clients to all Islington Mind services and signposting them to relevant local service providers. You will provide supervision in one-to-one and group settings to the crisis café’s staff and volunteers.

Islington Mind is dedicated to promoting the preservation and safeguarding of mental health. We support the recovery process of people who experience mental distress and provide for the relief and the wellbeing of their carers. As the leading independent mental health organisation in Islington, we offer high-quality services to local residents seeking mental health advice and support.
