About the role

The views of people with experience of mental health problems are at the heart of Mind’s work. As far as possible we aim for people with mental health problems to influence and participate in the design, delivery and review of all that we do.

We are looking for an individual, group or organisation who are experts in involvement approaches, ideally with experience of working in the area of mental health and of working in Wales, to undertake consultancy work to develop options for Mind Cymru with regard to its future approach to lived experience leadership.

Mind Cymru is Mind in Wales. With differences in terms of legislation, policy, funding and delivery expectations continuing to grow between England and Wales, it is very important that our work reflects the needs and experiences of beneficiaries in Wales and identifies opportunities to improve support and increase respect for people with mental health problems here.

It is crucial that we know what our beneficiaries are experiencing and what matters to them so that we are effective in making policy and campaigning choices influenced by and amplifying their voice. We also want to make sure that we know about service shortfalls and opportunities for us and our Local Mind Partners and about best practice and possible engagement partnerships in Wales.

This work will explore how we are currently working in terms of the above, the challenges staff encounter, an exploration of skill level and staffs ambition for the future in terms of lived experience leadership at Mind Cymru and within local Minds in Wales. You will be required to conduct a number of interviews, perform analysis and write a report detailing your findings and recommendations.

This work needs to take place between Jan – April 2019 over 23 days worked at a time convenient to those being interviewed and yourself.

To apply please read the role description and submit your application form to [email protected], ensuring you address all essential and desirable criteria.
