London Borough of Bromley
Orpington/Beckenham with potential for flexibility

Bromley, Lewisham & Greenwich Mind - Director of Operations

About the role

Bromley, Lewisham & Greenwich Mind is a highly regarded local charity, helping people to be mentally healthy and working together with those experiencing mental health problems and dementia to improve their quality of life. With an annual turnover of £4M, over 150 staff and 260 volunteers, we are one of the largest charities in the Mind network.

We have significant growth planned in the coming months, and are seeking a highly skilled leader to join our small, passionate, committed and friendly senior management team. The newly formed Director of Operations role promises to be interesting and very rewarding, working collaboratively with staff from across the charity and in partner organisations.

Early priorities for the Director of Operations will include:

  • Establishing a new suicide bereavement support service for SE London
  • Implementation of new integrated models of community mental health provision, in partnership with our local NHS mental health trusts
  • Recruiting lived experience consultants to inform our decision-making
  • Playing a lead role in the implementation of recommendations from BLG Mind’s recent Inclusion Review
  • Ensuring the consistent application of outcome measures in our services

With experience managing community-based services, you will need to demonstrate flexibility and creativity, strong project management skills and be an effective communicator. You will have proven influencing and partnership working skills and be able to deliver, from the successful implementation of a new service, to quality improvements and organisational change.

We recognise the importance and benefits of having a diverse and inclusive work force, and would therefore particularly welcome applications from the following, currently under-represented, groups:

  • People from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds
  • Disabled people
  • People with diverse sexual orientations and gender identities

BLG Mind is committed to meeting the reasonable adjustments of disabled people.
BLG Mind always welcomes applications from people with lived experience of mental health problems.
