Time to Change Wales phase 3 confirmed

Monday, 19 March 2018 Mind

We are very pleased to announce that Time to Change Wales has secured three-years of funding to deliver a third phase of the Time to Change Wales programme between 2018 and 2021.

Time to Change Wales, the national mental health anti-stigma campaign will now be able to continue to build on its success over the next three years, thanks to new support from Welsh Government and Comic Relief.

Since it was set up in 2012, Time to Change Wales has seen a much more positive attitude and less stigma shown toward people with mental health problems, reaching hundreds of thousands of people through its work. The funding of £960,262 will be used to continue to support the work done by people in every part of the country to share experiences of their own mental health problems and to work with employers, communities and groups to improve awareness and change behaviour.

Lowri Wyn Jones, TTCW Programme Manager said: “This funding represents an important commitment to the continuation of anti-stigma work in Wales in mental health and it will allow us to maintain the momentum of the movement and ensure that the work we have done so far contributes towards even bigger change at individual, local and national levels. This time round, we will be focusing on working with men – who we know find it more difficult to talk about mental health – and in all areas of Wales. We’ll also be able to work more with employers where we know the effects of stigma can be really harmful.”

Phase 3 of Time to Change Wales is anticipated to launch in spring 2018 following a set-up period and continue until end of March 2021.

Gofal withdrawal from delivery of the Time to Change Wales campaign

As a result of a strategic review refocusing the charity’s work, Gofal has made the decision to withdraw from the Time to Change Wales partnership at the end of March 2018. Time to Change Wales has been delivered by three mental health charities in Wales; Gofal, Hafal and Mind Cymru.

Gofal’s Chief Executive, Ewan Hilton said: “As a founding member of the Time to Change campaign in Wales it was a tough decision to withdraw. However, as a result of our strategic review we will be focusing on new areas of work where we believe we can have the greatest positive impact. Stigma and discrimination are still very real for people experiencing mental health problems in Wales and we remain committed to working with others to eradicate them. Myself and Gofal colleagues wish the Time to Change Wales team all the best with their work in the future – and personally, I would like to say an enormous thank you to everyone who has helped us and supported us over the past six years.”

Gofal have been involved in delivering the campaign since its inception in 2012 leading on the Social Marketing strand of Time to Change Wales. Gofal’s valuable investment in social marketing of the programme has enabled a vision for an anti-stigma campaign in Wales to transform into an established brand, successfully profiling the campaign at local and national levels. Mind Cymru will continue to work in partnership with Hafal moving into Time to Change Wales’ third phase.

Cadarnhau cyllid ar gyfer Cam 3 Amser i Newid Cymru

Rydym yn falch iawn o gyhoeddi bod Amser i Newid Cymru wedi sicrhau tair blynedd o gyllid i gyflawni trydydd cam o’r rhaglen rhwng 2018 a 2021.

Bydd Amser i Newid Cymru, yr ymgyrch gwrth-stigma iechyd meddwl cenedlaethol nawr yn gallu parhau i adeiladu ar ei lwyddiant dros y tair blynedd nesaf, diolch i gefnogaeth ariannol newydd gan Lywodraeth Cymru a Comic Relief.

Ers ei sefydlu yn 2012, mae Amser i Newid Cymru wedi gweld agwedd llawer mwy cadarnhaol a llai o stigma a ddangosir tuag at bobl â phroblemau iechyd meddwl, gan gyrraedd cannoedd o filoedd o bobl trwy ei waith. Defnyddir yr arian o £ 960,262 i barhau i gefnogi'r gwaith a wneir gan bobl ym mhob rhan o'r wlad i rannu profiadau eu problemau iechyd meddwl eu hunain a gweithio gyda chyflogwyr, cymunedau a grwpiau i wella ymwybyddiaeth a newid ymddygiad.

Dywedodd Lowri Wyn Jones, Rheolwraig Rhaglen TTCW: "Mae'r arian hwn yn ymrwymiad arwyddocaol i barhau â gwaith gwrth-stigma yng Nghymru mewn iechyd meddwl a bydd yn ein galluogi i gynnal momentwm y symudiad a sicrhau bod y gwaith yr ydym wedi'i wneud hyd yn hyn yn cyfrannu tuag at newid hyd yn oed yn fwy ar lefelau unigolyn, lleol a chenedlaethol. Y tro hwn, byddwn yn canolbwyntio ar weithio gyda dynion - pwy ydym ni'n ei chael yn ei chael hi'n anoddach siarad am iechyd meddwl - ac ymhob rhan o Gymru. Byddwn hefyd yn gallu gweithio’n fwy dwys gyda chyflogwyr lle gwyddom y gall effeithiau stigma fod yn niweidiol iawn.”

Rhagwelir y bydd Cam 3 o Amser i Newid Cymru yn cael ei lansio yn ystod gwanwyn 2018 yn dilyn cyfnod sefydlu a pharhau tan ddiwedd mis Mawrth 2021.

Gofal yn tynnu'n ôl o ddarparu ymgyrch Amser i Newid Cymru

O ganlyniad i adolygiad strategol sy'n ail-ffocysu gwaith yr elusen, mae Gofal wedi penderfynu tynnu'n ôl o bartneriaeth Amser i Newid Cymru ar ddiwedd Mawrth 2018. Hyd yn hyn, mae Amser i Newid Cymru wedi cael ei ddarparu gan dri elusen iechyd meddwl yng Nghymru; Gofal, Hafal a Mind Cymru.

Dywedodd Prif Weithredwr Gofal, Ewan Hilton: "Fel aelod sefydliadol o'r ymgyrch Amser i Newid yng Nghymru, roedd yn benderfyniad anodd i dynnu'n ôl. Fodd bynnag, o ganlyniad i'n hadolygiad strategol byddwn yn canolbwyntio ar feysydd gwaith newydd lle credwn y gallwn gael yr effaith gadarnhaol fwyaf. Mae stigma a gwahaniaethu yn dal i fod yn real iawn i bobl sy'n dioddef problemau iechyd meddwl yng Nghymru ac rydym yn parhau i fod yn ymrwymedig i weithio gydag eraill er mwyn eu herio. Rydw i a chydweithwyr Gofal yn dymuno'r gorau i dîm Amser i Newid Cymru â'u gwaith yn y dyfodol - ac yn bersonol, hoffwn ddiolch yn fawr iawn i bawb sydd wedi ein helpu a'n cefnogi ni dros y chwe blynedd diwethaf ".

Mae Gofal wedi bod yn rhan o ddarparu’r ymgyrch ers ei sefydlu yn 2012 yn arwain ar y maes Marchnata Cymdeithasol ar gyfer Amser i Newid Cymru. Mae buddsoddiad gwerthfawr Gofal mewn marchnata cymdeithasol wedi galluogi i’r weledigaeth ar gyfer ymgyrch gwrth-stigma yng Nghymru i drawsnewid i frand sefydledig, a’r gallu i broffilio'r ymgyrch yn llwyddiannus ar lefel leol a chenedlaethol. Bydd Mind Cymru yn parhau i weithio mewn partneriaeth â Hafal wrth symud mewn i drydedd cam Amser i Newid Cymru.
