Davinia Taylor runs the Virgin Money London Marathon for Mind

Wednesday, 18 April 2018 Mind

This Sunday (22nd April), the actress Davinia Taylor will run the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon in aid of Mind, raising vital funds and awareness for Mind.

Davinia, known for playing the character Jude Cunningham in Hollyoaks, has shared her experiences of depression, bipolar disorder and post-natal depression on her Virgin Money Giving page and is aiming to raise £10,000 through the challenge for Mind.

Davinia says: “I’m excited to be running for Mind, they do such important work and help thousands of people access mental health support each year. I hope that by speaking out about the challenges I’ve faced, it might help others going through similar experiences. I must admit I’m a little nervous about the run itself but if this reminds even just one person that they’re not alone, it’ll all be worth it.”

Any funds raised from Davinia’s marathon will help to fund our vital support services, such as the Infoline and Elefriends, ensuring that the one in four of us who will experience a mental health problem this year have somewhere to turn to.

Paul Farmer, Chief Executive at Mind said: “We are so grateful to Davinia for choosing to run the 2018 Virgin Money London Marathon in aid of Mind. In doing so she is raising awareness of mental health problems and helping to raise vital funds for our services, such as the Mind Infoline.

“The impact of high profile individuals speaking out about their own mental health shouldn’t be underestimated. They help normalise mental health problems by talking about their own experiences.

“By Davinia speaking so candidly about her mental health experiences she has shown that mental health problems can affect anyone. Her words will hopefully give many people the confidence to reach out for support. We wish Davinia the best of luck for Sunday.”
