The Making A Difference award is presented to someone in the media that sets the agenda and initiates change. The winners in this category have used their platform to share experiences helping a huge number of young people feeling less alone.

Winner: Hollyoaks Don’t Filter Feelings campaign

The Channel 4 soap ran cross platform and is a show doing wonders in reaching the youth of today. Tackling issues through on screen storylines that have, this year covered bulimia, schizo-affective disorder and self-harm, as well as a supporting social media campaign. This campaign proved so successful that the team were invited to the Houses of Parliament at the beginning of the year to talk about the show’s work on mental health.

Luciana Berger MP, former Shadow Minister for mental health officially named herself as ‘MP for Hollyoaks’ because of the work the show had done on air and across digital to support the campaign for better support for mental health.
