At Mind, we’re here to help people to find the words to talk to their GP about their mental health and get the support they need. This can only be achieved if the people delivering primary care – GPs, practice nurses, pharmacists and their colleagues – also get the support they need.

We all need to look after our mental health, including these primary care professionals.

When primary care professionals are well and supported, they can provide the best care for their patients.

Too much pressure and other demands in the workplace cause stress, which can lead us to become unwell, both physically and mentally. We know that almost 90 per cent of primary care staff experience workplace stress, compared with 56 per cent of the general workforce.

We're working to improve the support that primary care staff get with their mental health. If you work in a primary care service, we'd love you to be involved by becoming a campaigner.

Supporting the people we rely on

Working in primary care doesn’t make it any easier to find the words to talk about your mental health at work. It needs to be ok for primary care staff to talk about it. Like anyone else, they need and deserve support.

We asked a group of primary care professionals to talk about their own experience of mental health problems. Please watch our film and share it.
