Joining in Mind prize draws is a fantastic way to support our work and exciting for you too.
We often get asked questions about our prize draws and raffles, so we’ve put together some FAQs for you. If you have any other questions, we are always happy to hear from you. You can call our Supporter Care Team on 020 8215 2243 or email us.
Why does Mind run raffles and prize draws?
Raffles and prize draws are a great way that Mind can raise money. The money raised goes to support our mental health services like the Mind Infoline. It also helps pay for some services in local Minds. What’s more, by giving away prizes to our winners we feel that we can reward you for your great support.
Do you really give out these prizes?
Yes. Our prizes are all guaranteed and someone will always win them. You can view a list of previous winners of our raffle here.
Where is the money I give to you actually going?
Mind is a charity, we’re here to make sure that no one has to face a mental health problem alone. Money raised from prize draws and raffles will go towards running important services that will give people support and advice. The Mind Infoline is just one of the services that we run. We also provide grants to local Minds so more people can get the support they need close to their home. Only 13p in every £1 we raise is spent on administration.
Why have I been sent this prize draw?
If you have previously supported us:
You may have supported us in the past by taking part in a raffle. Because many of our supporters like to give small gifts throughout the year we send out regular mailings to give people the opportunity to do just that.
If you want to receive fewer mailings from us just call our Supporter Care team on 020 8215 2243 or email us.
If you haven’t previously supported us:
We invite people who are not currently Mind supporters to take part in our raffles and prize draws. It helps us generate more funds for the work we do. We try to find people who are most likely to want to start supporting us in this way, but if you don’t want to hear from us, just call our Supporter Care team on 020 8215 2243 or email us.
If you object to receiving unsolicited mail, you may also wish to register your address by calling the Mailing Preference Service (MPS) on 0845 703 4599.
What’s the difference between a raffle and a prize draw?
In a raffle you have to pay to enter. You may buy raffle tickets yourself or sell them to friends and family. Every £1 ticket that is sold goes into the draw and the winners are drawn at random. Raffles are licensed in Great Britain by the Gambling Commission.
In a prize draw you do not have to pay to enter – though most people choose to make a donation when they take part. Everyone who enters goes into our draw, whether or not they make a donation.
Do I have to make a donation to enter your prize draw?
No, but we hope you will. We run our prize draws to raise funds for our charitable work, to help ensure that no one has to face a mental health problem alone.
What are my chances of winning?
Your chances of winning depend on how many other people take part because every entry has an equal chance of winning.
What if I don’t want to take part in Mind prize draws or raffles?
That’s not a problem, please call our Supporter Care Team on 020 8215 2243 or email us.
When do the draws take place?
Our raffles take place twice a year during the spring and at Christmas.
Our prize draws are conducted at regular intervals throughout the year and normally there are three or four.
How will I know if I have won a prize?
We will contact the winners as soon as we can after the draw has taken place, and always within 28 days of the draw. The number of the winning tickets and town where they come from are also posted on our website.
I’m worried a prize draw I have received may be a scam, how can I tell?
Please be rest assured that Mind’s prize draws and raffles are not scams. The prizes on offer are genuine, and our prize winners are real people. However, we are aware that there are some dishonest companies who try to copy legitimate prize draws.
If you are worried by what you’ve received in the post then please call our Supporter Care Team on 020 8215 2243 or email us.
