I was pretty sure I was going to enjoy this book before I’d even read it. I’ve read the other seven (yes, seven!) books in the series and (mostly) loved all of them. I was desperate to find out what happens next to Sophie, Suze and the gang.
To give a bit of the backstory, Rebecca Bloomwood is hopeless at managing her money, and absolutely loves shopping. This has got her into lots of difficult (but funny) situations over the last seven books as she takes on the world with her best friend Suze and her arch enemy Alicia. That’s not even mentioning her workmates, marriage or family!
In this book Rebecca embarks on a road trip to Las Vegas to rescue various friends and family members from tricky situations they’ve got themselves into.
Her Dad has disappeared, along with Suze’s husband and Becky’s on a mission to find them. Along the way she gets herself into all sorts of trouble, including awkward situations, fights, a rodeo, blackmailing, pottery artists and spiritual readings.
With help from her family and friends, she also discovers more about herself than she bargained for – and I like her as a character much more for it.
I wasn’t that keen on book seven, I thought it seemed rushed, Becky seemed really narcissistic and very shallow. But the author has redeemed herself here, Becky is back on top form and although there wasn’t as much shopping as I’d have liked, I grinned from ear to ear while reading the book and can’t wait for the next instalment!
