At the start of the day I’ll catch up with the team to get a handover of how things have been. We’ll talk about staffing, how people have been overnight and whether there have been any incidents, which could be a wide range of things.

I meet with other managers each morning to give a breakdown of the past 24 hours. We’ll talk through how many patients we’ve got, any patients who are under observation, and any escorts that are needed for trips out.

Each morning I lead a mindfulness session for patients and staff. I make sure all staff attend, because I think it’s important that if we’re expecting patients to adopt mindfulness staff have awareness of it themselves.
