Mind and the Welsh language

If you need mental health support in Welsh, we want to be the charity you turn to.

This page outlines some of the ways we can support you in Welsh. It also shows the work we’re doing to improve services in Welsh.

Mae'r dudalen hon hefyd ar gael yn Gymraeg. This link will take you to a Welsh translation of this page.

Cynnig Cymraeg

We’re committed to improving the way we support Welsh speakers with their mental health.

That’s why we’ve created our Cynnig Cymraeg with the Welsh Language Commissioner’s Office.

As part of our Welsh offer, we've made the following commitments:

  1. You'll be able to read our most popular mental health information in Welsh. You'll be able to easily navigate our Welsh website content.
  2. You'll be able to access Mind's Wales-wide mental health services in Welsh. However this may not always be possible at a local Mind level.
  3. Choosing to communicate in Welsh will be an easy, automatic step for anyone contacting Mind. We'll communicate in your preferred language wherever possible.
  4. We'll promote our services and information bilingually. We'll ensure the mental health experiences of Welsh speakers are reflected in our marketing.
  5. We'll support and encourage Welsh in our workplace. We'll do this by proactively recruiting Welsh speakers, providing Welsh language lessons to Mind Cymru employees and encouraging the informal use of Welsh at work.

Information in Welsh

Our most popular mental health information for adults is written in English and in Welsh.

And all of our mental health information for young people is available bilingually.

Welsh at work

We want more Welsh speaking staff at Mind. We promote all Welsh jobs bilingually. And we include Welsh language as one of our equality and diversity monitoring criteria.

We also offer Welsh language lessons for any staff member who wants to improve their Welsh.
