As we start to feel the impact of coronavirus on our mental health, it is incredibly important that we take action now. Demand for our vital support and services will grow – and we must be equipped to meet it. However, many of our fundraising events have understandably been cancelled, and all of our shops are closed. We need your support now more than ever.
We recently ran a survey to find out how the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown was affecting people’s mental health, to help us better understand how we can support people during this uncertain time. Our findings show that new mental health problems have developed and existing mental health problems have worsened.

Local Minds have adapted the way they provide services following government and NHS advice. This means that most face to face services can no longer take place in person. Many are now running telephone helplines with extended hours. Others are moving to use online platforms and video conferencing so they can connect directly with anyone who relies on their services. Our head offices in London and Cardiff are now closed because of the coronavirus outbreak. We can't open your letters or acknowledge postal donations, so we ask you not to send anything by post right now. At Mind, we're here to make sure that no one has to face a mental health problem alone, and we won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect.
In response to the coronavirus pandemic, we built and launched our coronavirus information hub. This hub has received over 1.4 million views since its launch in March and our new information resources for children and young people have been viewed over 420,000 times.
Our Infoline and Legal Line have remained operational throughout the pandemic and responded to over 35,000 calls, texts, and chats, and the numbers of new people signing up to Elefriends has increased from over 122,000 accounts in March to over 132,000 in June.
