Mind Media Awards 2019 Website Header 1200x 360px (1)

We know that media reports can have a huge impact on people’s mental health, prompting them to start conversations, seek help and support each other.

That’s why we hold the Mind Media Awards every year, to recognise and celebrate the best possible representations of mental health across TV, radio, print and online.

Entries for the 2019 Awards are now closed and winners will be announced on 13 November 2019.

The award categories are: Digital Champion, Documentary, Drama, Entertainment, Journalist, News and Current Affairs, Podcast, Publication, Radio, Soaps or Continual Series and Student Journalist.

2019 shortlist

Our shortlist panels were blown away by the high standard of entries shown this year. We had a record number of entries with a strong presence of stories from those with personal experience of mental health problems.

We are excited to announce the 2019 shortlist for all 11 categories.

Why the Mind Media Awards matter

Recent polling carried out for Mind showed that people believe journalists have more influence over public attitudes to mental health than politicians do. Where negative coverage can have a devastating effect on people’s lives, accurate, positive portrayals of mental health can be a lifeline.

Julia Lamb, Media Engagement and Awards Manager, explains why we hold the Media Awards and have done for over 20 years.
