West Sussex Mind – mental health peer support worker

Do you have your own lived experience of managing mental health challenges while being a parent of a young child? Are you ready to support others through their own recovery journey?

What you'll do

In this role you'll:

  • Support the mental health and wellbeing of parents of young children
  • Work in partnership with Dad La Soul, whose aim is to support male carers
  • Attend their established Saturday playdates and Thursday evening meet ups to engage with male carers around their mental health and support them to access services
  • Facilitate and develop the giving and receiving of peer support
  • Contribute to the achievement of parents' goals and be an active member of the staff team

About you

We're looking for someone with:

  • Personal experience of caring for a child alongside managing difficulties with your own mental health, we would love to hear from you
  • This might include personal experience or supporting a partner through post-natal mental health issues, using mental health services and an understanding of mental health recovery
