Oxfordshire Mind – housing worker

Oxfordshire Mind’s supported housing service offers accommodation to people with mental health problems aged 18-65 who struggle to live independently.

Many people move into our service after an inpatient stay, having been street homeless, or having been at risk of homelessness.

This role is an excellent opportunity to help reduce homelessness and to support people experiencing mental health issues. You'll help people to secure stable, long-term independent accommodation in the community.

We help people to develop the skills to move onto more independent accommodation within 2 years. Our team are supportive of our residents and each other. We welcome each others’ different strengths and approaches. And we work together to give the best support we can.

What you'll do

You will:

  • Assess mental health needs and risk

  • Create strategies for managing risks

  • Create support planning together with residents

  • Carry out property management tasks, like health and safety checks, fire safety checks and arranging repairs

  • Keep records and run admin tasks

  • Encourage community interaction to improve physical and mental wellbeing

  • Create plans for residents to move on to long-term accommodation

About you

We're looking for someone with experience of working with people with mental health problems. You'll have worked in a housing or residential setting. And you'll need good admin and IT skills.
