Mind in Tower Hamlets, Newham and Redbridge – advocacy support officer

Mind in Tower Hamlets, Newham and Redbridge are looking to recruit an advocacy support officer based at Mile End Hospital. You'll play a key role as part of the Tower Hamlets Independent Mental Health Advocacy Service.

What you'll do

In this role you'll: 

  • Give information on Mind in Tower Hamlets, Newham and Redbridge’s advocacy services to clients and the general public
  • Welcome visitors and clients who may approach the service office and direct as appropriate
  • Take information from callers if they are a new referral to the service and hand over to the appropriate advocate
  • Make sure service users have access to all of the information they need in order to make informed choices about their care and exercise their rights

About you

We're looking for someone with:

  • Experience of working in an office environment
  • Experience of providing reception services either in a health or social care setting
  • Experience of using IT systems
  • Experience of implementing administrative policies and procedures in a busy environment
  • Ability to user Microsoft Office software, including Teams
  • Understanding of mental health issues or a willingness to learn
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with service users, other professionals and colleagues
