Mind in Gwent – housing and tenancy support worker

In this role you'll give housing-related support to eligible migrants living in Newport. You'll work towards the goal of preventing homelessness, increasing connections in the local community and securing appropriate accommodation.

What you'll do

In this role you'll:

  • Deliver person-centred housing-related support to clients
  • Through the support, promote clients' mental wellbeing and independence
  • Work with clients in assessing their needs to create personal support and plans
  • Ensure that anti-racism, equality and diversity are central to your work
  • Take action to reach people from marginalised or disadvantaged groups and that the services you provide match their needs
  • Network effectively with voluntary and statutory agencies to promote clients' needs
  • Work with clients so that they have the knowledge, understanding and skills to access services, support and to improve their mental wellbeing and resilience
  • Assist clients with benefits, housing and employment to increase income and opportunities to be suitably housed

About you

We're looking for someone with:

  • Experience of offering person-centred, housing-related support to eligible migrants in Newport
  • Experience of delivering person-centred support to promote mental wellbeing and independence
  • Experience of working with clients in assessing their needs and creating personal support and support plans
  • Experience of working effectively as part of different teams
  • Experience of working effectively with a variety of organisations in the interests of clients
  • Ability to provide support to people in a way that promotes their involvement, independence, resilience to achieve positive outcomes
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a diverse range of people with different levels of understanding and ability
