Mid and North East Essex Mind – sessional counsellor

Are you a qualified counsellor who's passionate about supporting children and young people? Are you looking for a role that offers flexibility?

We have an exciting opportunity with a school located in north east Essex to deliver face-to-face counselling sessions to young people in need. The role is based in the school with referrals coming from the wellbeing team who you'll work alongside. 

What you'll do

In this role you'll:

• Deliver therapeutic interventions for children and young people in an education setting with moderate ill mental health and/or poor attendance
• Identify children and young people within the school who present with severe mental health concerns and liaise with the school wellbeing team and Mind management
• Work with and within education environments to afford better access to mental health support
• Utilise the Mid and North East Essex Mind case management system

About you

We're looking for someone with:

• Level 4 counselling including children and young people
• Ability to carry out one-to-one, face-to-face therapeutic session with children and young people
• Ability to work within educational settings to increase mental health awareness within the staff group
• Ability to conduct mental health assessments of children and young people
• Ability to assess risk and record and communicate appropriately
• Ability to take appropriate action to mitigate or manage risk
